Linspire & Fluendo Partner To Bring One-Click Multimedia Software To Desktop Linux Users
Linspire and Fluendo announced a partnership
that will bring legal multimedia software to desktop Linux users worldwide.
Immediately available and one-click accessible through CNR.com's software
delivery service, Fluendo's multimedia software products are now available to
Freespire 2.0, Linspire 6.0, Ubuntu 7.04 and 7.10 users and will soon expand to
additional popular Linux distributions.
"The Fluendo partnership offers desktop Linux users additional multimedia
options which they can easily install with one click of the mouse through
CNR.com," said Larry Kettler, Linspire President and CEO. "CNR.com
provides a valuable marketplace where users can choose what software they want,
both free and commercial, and quickly install it on their systems."
Commercial multimedia software codes in desktop Linux operating systems have
been very limited in the past as popular free Linux distributions do not bundle
proprietary offerings due to their inherent licensing fees. Providing a legal
option to desktop Linux users, Fluendo multimedia software offerings allow
users to play movies using the MPEG 4 part 2 codec (aka DIVX), MP3 audio tracks
and MPEG2 video files as well as get access to the latest networking protocols
and the popular Windows Media format to open Windows Media clips.
"Fluendo software options combined with the ease of CNR's one-click
installation, provides a very simple and straightforward way to enjoy a great
multimedia experience on your GNU/Linux operating system," said Pascal
Pegaz Paquet, Fluendo Co-Founder. "We are proud to finally reach our goal
by providing an easy to use, 100% legal and fully functional solution to the
multimedia issue in the free software environment."
